Typetrans

File Safety and Security

Typetrans is built for document formatting, so file handling and clear retention rules matter. This page explains how uploaded and formatted documents are handled.

Last updated: June 11, 2026

File type

DOCX only, with a maximum upload size set by the product.

Access

Temporary downloads require the authenticated account that created them.

Storage

Files are temporarily stored with Cloudflare R2 and served through authenticated routes.

1. What happens when you upload a file

Typetrans accepts DOCX files. When you upload a document, we store the original file so the service can scan formatting, compare it to the selected template, apply changes, and generate a formatted DOCX download.

Uploaded files use random file identifiers and storage keys. Anonymous uploads are stored separately from account-specific uploads. To run paid formatting and access saved downloads, you must sign in.

2. File ownership

Your documents remain yours. Typetrans does not claim ownership of your manuscript, paper, book, legal document, or other uploaded content. We process files only to provide, secure, debug, and support the service.

3. Access controls

  • Downloads require an authenticated Typetrans account.
  • Download routes check that the requested job belongs to the signed-in user.
  • Custom templates and Pro features are checked on the server.
  • Payment status and credit use are checked on the server, not by trusting public browser variables.

4. Retention windows

Typetrans does not provide persistent document storage or document history. Uploaded and generated files are stored temporarily to process your job and provide the result for download. Download links expire after about 12 hours.

Expired files are no longer available through the download route. Storage cleanup may happen asynchronously after expiration.

5. File cleanup

Because Typetrans does not offer document history, files are not intended to be managed as long-term account records. Expired uploaded originals and generated files are scheduled for best-effort cleanup. Some operational logs, payment records, backups, or security records may remain for a limited period where required for support, accounting, legal compliance, or abuse prevention.

6. Payment safety

Checkout is handled by Paddle. Typetrans does not store full card numbers. Paddle handles payment method collection, receipts, invoices, taxes, fraud checks, subscription renewals, and refund processing.

7. Infrastructure providers

Typetrans uses Cloudflare services for hosting, storage, database, and delivery. We may also use Google for sign-in and analytics, and Paddle for payments. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to Typetrans.

8. Important limitations

Typetrans is a self-service web tool. It is not designed for medical records, government secrets, payment card storage, national ID storage, or other highly regulated data unless you have confirmed that your use is appropriate.

Do not upload files that you are not allowed to process with a third-party tool. If a document is highly sensitive, remove unnecessary personal data before uploading.

9. Reporting security concerns

If you believe you found a security issue, email support@typetrans.com with enough detail for us to understand and reproduce the issue. Please do not access, download, modify, or disclose another user's data.
